IAgrE, AEA and BAGMA sign the Armed Forces Covenant

IAgrE, BAGMA and the AEA attended the Armed Forces National Transition event on the 24 February, at Silverstone, where all three signed the Armed Forces Covenant.

In its 6th year the event brings together Service leavers, veterans, reservists, spouses,  partners and family members to aid successful, sustainable transition into civilian life by providing networking opportunities and by recognising, demonstrating and celebrating the value of the Armed Forces.

“Signing the covenant means that IAgrE commits to upholding the Armed Forces Covenant and support the Armed Forces Community and that we recognise the contribution that service personnel, both regular and reservist, veterans and military families make to our organisation, our community and to the country,” said Charlie Nicklin CEO of IAgrE.

“There are some great opportunities for veterans in land-based engineering and a number of companies, such as John Deere and its dealer network, are using the available recruitment channels to open up opportunities.

There is also plenty of scope for recruitment to more senior engineering and technical roles and companies such as DAF and Jaguar Land Rover were in attendance showing automotive career pathways,” Charlie added.

The event was also an opportunity to promote “We Are Land-based”  with an exhibition stand provided by the Land-based Engineering Training and Education Committee (LE-TEC), As part of the LE-TEC collaboration, IAgrE promoted recruitment, training and education for people working within all sectors of agricultural and land-based engineering.
