My name is Luke Tighe. I am currently studying a BEng in Agricultural Engineering at Harper Adams University. I grew up in Warrington Cheshire. My studies in engineering have provided me with many opportunities including winning the Top Student Northwest Farmers Trust Trophy at Reaseheath College and the Engineering Learner of the Year Award from Lantra.
For practical experience I have worked at Malpas Tractors where I developed my skills in operating and repairing machinery. Additionally, I have always been actively involved in harvests, working with traditional equipment on our family farm.
Outside my studies and work I enjoy taking part in charity tractor runs and vintage ploughing matches. My membership with the IAgrE has been very beneficial offering many chances to broaden my knowledge and connect with industry professionals. I am honoured to serve as a Council member representing student's viewpoints and contributing to the future direction of the Institution. I am eager to continue my involvement with the IAgrE and to advance in my career.
