Western event - Soil, water and more ... an international career path presented by Western Branch member Chris Brown

 Chris will outline his career working for Consulting Engineering firms, firstly gaining Chartered Status with Halcrow and then joining Mott MacDonald to work on overseas projects in Bangladesh, Somalia and Indonesia. These project assignments led to involvement in winning the work needed to sustain a growing business and pursuing a career in project and business management.

Chris’s career spanned 4 decades of which 20 years were spent in Africa and Southeast Asia. In his final role he returned to the International development Unit to lead the Water, Environment and Climate Change Division.

In 2003 Chris completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with the Open University.

Chris’s lecture will touch upon:

-    How to embark on an international career pathway (against all odds!);
-    The challenges of irrigation and drainage and other projects in very
         different countries; and
