This seminar discusses progress and next steps for waste management, recycling and the circular economy in the UK.
With the pending waste and resource efficiency report by the Government’s Chief Scientific Adviser, and with waste infrastructure forming part of the NIC’s 2018 National Infrastructure Assessment, this seminar will bring together policymakers with key stakeholders to consider the policy priorities, and additional approaches that can be adopted, to better manage waste production in the UK.
As recycling rates stall in the UK and with the EU proposing measures to raise recycling targets to 70% by 2030, the seminar will provide an opportunity to analyse the latest initiatives for improving recycling and waste management at a local level. Delegates will examine priorities for waste collection processes, developing incentives and engagement strategies, innovation, reducing plastic waste and the experiences of devolved authorities.
The seminar also comes as the UK launches the world’s first Circular Economy Standards and further sessions will discuss the outlook for transitioning towards a more sustainable economy and implementing the Circular Economy Package. Attendees will consider the potential legal and regulatory impact of Brexit, and the challenges for fostering producer responsibility, reforming supply chains, utilising energy-from-waste and managing e-waste.
