Lunchtime Lecture - The Rise of Simulation-Led Design

Lunchtime Lecture - The Rise of Simulation-Led Design

James Croxford from Harper Adams University explains the benefits of using computer simulation.

The lecture will look at the latest simulation tools and techniques and discuss how these can be used to remove numerous iterations from the design process, saving businesses considerable time and money.  A rapid growth in co-simulation packages now allows simulations to take place across different domains simulating interactions between stress, aerodynamics, bulk material handling, electrical simulation, and control systems amongst others.

James worked for Bentley Motors for 7 years in their Design Analysis and Test department, working on simulation, rig tests and road load data collection.  Following that he did a 2-year stint with SAIC as a Vehicle Performance Engineer and was responsible for implementing the new WLTP emissions legislation.  He has now been at Harper Adams for 3 years, teaching at the institution that he graduated from initially!
