Stephanie Berkeley (Manager of the Farm Safety Foundation, Yellow Wellies and organiser of Farm Safety Week) will introduce the themes for Farm Safety Week (21-25 July 2025) and provide some background on the topics and activities that will support the Week.
With approximately 462,000 workers employed in the sector, farming accounts for a mere 1% of the working population in the UK but a staggering 17% of ALL worker deaths (HSE 2023/24). This gives agriculture the poorest safety record of ANY occupation in the UK and Ireland. In this session, Stephanie will highlight what her charity - the Farm Safety Foundation - has been doing to address this and share insights into their recent research around attitudes and behaviours to risk taking, working and mental wellbeing as well as explaining the options available to members to get involved.
