This lecture will consider ‘standard’ industrial approaches to equipment design & operation and illustrate the risks to reliable plant function that can result from a lack of understanding of bulk characteristics. Substantial use will be made of industrial examples to support the technical content of the presentation.
Presenter: Mr Richard Farnish, CEng MIMechE
The presenter has 26 years experience working at The Wolfson Centre for Bulk Solids Handling Technology (www.bulksolids.com), University of Greenwich. Currently his role is that of Technical Director at The Wolfson Centre where he is actively engaged in providing consultancy services to industries in the UK and abroad that are struggling with storage, handling or processing issues associated with bulk materials. Examples of these problems range from discharge unreliability, segregation, poor process control (due to erratic flow), pneumatic conveying blockage /wear, lump formation in storage….and many, many more!
