The East Midlands Engineering and Science Professionals (EMESP) provides a voice on the common issues
for the engineering and science profession in the East Midlands. It works to make people much more aware
and appreciative of the vital contribution that engineering and science make to the economy, prosperity and
quality of life of our region.

DR JOHN ROBERTS FREng BEng PhD DEng DTech FICE FIStructE
Until recently John was an Executive Director of Jacobs, and was President of the Institution of Structural
Engineers in 1999/2000. He is particularly well known for a long association with the design of major rides and
attractions including the world’s largest rollercoaster (at Blackpool Pleasure Beach), Europe’s tallest timber
ride (Tusenfryd in Oslo, Norway), the iconic London Eye and most recently the British Airways i360 at Brighton.
Doors open at 7:00pm for registrations. Tickets, £5/person, can be obtained in advance through a
live below. Tickets can also be purchased on the night at the venue, but spaces are limited
and only pre-booked tickets have guaranteed seats.
