Today the HSE published its report on Workplace fatal injuries in Great Britain 2018. The report can be found here:

The report covers all industries in Great Britain and gives a headline figure for major industrial sectors in GB.
Points to note are:
- Increase in the total for GB – 144 this yr c.f. 137 in 2016/2017
- Worker deaths for agriculture are 29 this yr. c.f. 27 last yr (p 2 of the report)
- Agriculture continues to have the poorest safety record - measured by deaths per 100,000 employed

- GB wide (not just agriculture) falls from height and transport are the biggest cause of death (p6)
- For agriculture there were 9 cattle related deaths last yr c.f. 2 in 2016/17
- 44% of fatal injuries in agriculture were to self-employed farmers/workers (p8)
