Biosystems Engineering is a premier, peer-reviewed journal owned by the Institution of Agricultural Engineers (IAgrE) and published monthly by Elsevier. As the official scientific journal of the European Society of Agricultural Engineers (EurAgEng), it provides a dynamic platform for pioneering research in engineering and physical sciences applied to biological systems.

Scope and Focus

The journal features original research that enhances the understanding, modelling, and practical application of engineering principles to biological systems. Key areas of interest include:

  • Sustainable land use and environmental management
  • Agricultural and amenity systems
  • Bioproduction processes and food chain technologies
  • Innovations in machinery, mechanisation, and processing
  • Experimental equipment, instrumentation, and analytical techniques

Each issue showcases high-quality papers presenting experimental findings, theoretical insights, and design innovations that contribute to sustainable development across land-based industries.
