AHDB publish new Field Drainage Guide – November 2015
IAgrE Members may be interested in the new Field Drainage Guide, Principles, installation and maintenance recently published by the Agricultural & Horticultural Development Board.  We think it is full of practical information and will prove to be a helpful decision-making aid for landowners. 

Final GIGR Cattle Group Report - March 2015 
Jim Loynes CEng MIAgrE has been the UK representative on the Commission International du Genie Rural (CIGR) Section II Working Group N° 14 Cattle Housing, since 2000.  The group comprises representatives from several countries around the world - see page 2 of the report who meet once a year to discuss cattle housing issues and any collaborative research or publications.  The report was first produced back in the 1980's and was last updated in 1994. The  final version of this report was agreed at a meeting in July 2014, having obtained an ISBN number for it in March, are now trying to promote it far and wide.  There will soon be a French translation and an Italian version is currently being worked on.

Silsoe Research Institute - SRI (formerly the National Institute of agricultural Engineering - NIAE)

  1. "Agricultural Engineering” - The Wrest Park Story 1924-2006
    This book details the history of the work of the National Institute of Agricultural Engineering, which later became Silsoe Research Institute.  The first two chapters describe the origins of the Institute in Oxford in 1924 and its progress to Wrest Park in 1947-8 via Askham Bryan in Yorkshire during the war years.  The remaining 12 chapters describe the agricultural engineering work undertaken, together with highlights and personal anecdotes from former staff.  The price per book plus postage is £10 (UK) and £20 (International)   Copies are still available directly from the IAgrE Secretariat or via the IAgrE Shop.
