Andy Spearey - Extreme Engineering, Life & times with the British Antarctic Survey
Andy Spearey has kindly agreed to deliver a lecture detailing some of his experiences of
working with the Antarctic Survey at Halley Research Station. The Station is an internationally
important platform for global earth, atmospheric and space weather observation in a climate
sensitive zone. Built on a floating ice shelf in the Weddell Sea, Halley VI is the world’s first relocatable
research facility. Getting an engine to start at -45°C requires engineering skills with
added ingenuity and perseverance.
7.30pm for the lecture, 6pm if you would like to order food before (not included)
