Western Branch - Tour of Thatcher's Cider Makers

We’re been kindly provided with the opportunity to see the processing of apples grown at Myrtle Fam in Somerset, for the well-established Thatcher’s brand. John Thatcher has collected over 458 different varieties of apples, with the emphasis on soil type, drainage and location for achieving  optimum yield. In addition Thatcher’s have a three year deal to process all the blackcurrants for Lucozade Ribena Suntory Ltd.  The tour will be the standard tour plus the oportunity to see someof the harvesting kit they have developed

Meet at 11am at the Railway Inn, Sandford.

Following on from some liquid refreshment we’re planning a trip to the Helicopter museum at Weston Super Mare which is the World’s largest exhibition of its type. Examples cover those used by Royalty, land speed records, and a range of historic conflicts.

A mini bus is been organised from Devizes, Wiltshire with a £10 booking fee. Numbers for the cider visit are limited to 15 so please contact Mike Whiting for further information.
